If you visit this wonderful city you cannot leave without having an ice cream at Amy's. I used to visit Austin weekly and this is my most fond memory of many.
Here are the details.
Amy's opened in 1985 and currently has 8 stores in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.
What's so special about this ice cream?
They take your ice cream and toss it up in the air and then add in Crush'ns. Those can be just about anything you want including nuts,candy,fruit. They have these paddles which they use to beat in the Crush'ns and then it's more tossing in the air and then it's yours to enjoy.
I know that there are numerous copy cat ice cream stores all over but this beats them all. We have a place called Cold Stone Creamery and it is good but in no way compares to Amy's.
Flavors:
There are 7 standard flavors.
-Sweet Cream
-Just Vanilla
-Mexican Vanilla
-Coffee
-White Chocolate
-Belgian Chocolate
-Dark Chocolate
There are 11 seasonal flavors,17 fruit ices,and 144 other flavors that are rotated 7 at a time through the stores.
They have some neat alcohol flavors that include Guinness Beer,Kahlua,B-52,and Grand Marnier.
Their Most Popular Flavor:
Mexican Vanilla with Strawberry Crush'ns.

My favorites:
I just love Mexican Vanilla with Junior Mints as a Crush'n or Mexican Vanilla with coconut and chocolate sprinkles as the Crush'ns.

I am sad that I can't have Amy's more often,I would fly to Austin just to have some and now I don't even have to leave the Airport!
