OK,,,on with the review.
Being summer was coming to an end, I wanted to take my 9 year old daughter somewhere where she would have fun.
I do alot of driving around Houston for my job and she was staying with me all summer. We passed the Adventure Bay Waterpark one day while I was working. (She came along with me while I was working).
She was DYING to go there.
Well, I made plans the following week to take her there.
I read up on it on the internet and seemed okay.
Before this, I had never heard of Adventure Bay.
I found a coupon on their website and we went on a Tuesday in August.
We arrived at about 11:00am and was no problem with parking.
The parking is FREE!.
We get tickets and take a cooler with our lunch in it.
We also went and rented a locker for my wallet and glasses and extra clothes. Wondered about that, because seemed like I was the only person in the park that rented a locker, everyone else just left there stuff on tables and chairs.
We found a cabana with a table and chairs and set our stuff up.
Well, Immediately she wanted to go to the wave pool..
I wasnt impressed with the waves,,just small, small rolling waves..very small.
After a few minutes in the wave pool, we headed for the slides.
She wanted to go on the tall slide where you sit on mats.
Walking up the path and up the walkway to the top of the 4 or 5 story slide, I noticed how horrible the condition of the slides where. ALOT of rust, rot and deterioration. I kept that to myself. Since I look at that sort of thing everyday in my job, I noticed it first thing.
Being a big guy, someone my size thinks about the boards giving way when he walks across them. I MEAN THE PLACE IS RUSTING AWAY!....
Well, my daughter loved the slide, we did it about 5 times before we went to the next attraction.
We went to the tube slide.
I repeat, this was a tuesday and NO ONE was hardly there, NO LINES AT ALL.
I have been to Shlitterbaun and stood in line for hours.
The tub ride was ok...Again, being over 6 feet tall, had trouble getting started..LOL.
She loved that ride too.
I took a picture of the rust and corrosion.
We went on the river...was only 3 foot deep and very slow.. I walked it most of the way.
She road the Master Blaster....sort of misleading..you know Shlitterbaun has a MasterBlaster and its their premier ride...
Well this one is only about one story tall, the tube goes down a hill then is pushed up a hill by water and into a double loop tunnel tube...very lame..very.
My daughter wanted me to ride it bad..she had already riden it once and wanted me to do it.
Well reluctantly we got in line with our tubes and right before our turn a young lady and her child got stuck going up the hill, Thank God, because I know it wouldnt have pushed my big self up that hill...THEY SHUT THE RIDE DOWN.
We then walked to the other side of the park where the steep slide is and my daughter did this about two times...She said it was scary, and loved it.
We then ate and she got back in the wave pool for another hour or so.
I will just say. If you have ever been to Shlitterbaun, you will not care for this park.
That is unless your 9 YEARS OLD, MY DAUGHTER LOVED IT.
The park is completely geared to the young kids, there are two small children pools.
The price is reasonable and parking free.
