If you like dropping wildly from ridiculous heights, Cedar Point is the place for you. With its wide variety of roller coasters and other extreme rides, Cedar Point is popular with thrill seekers, our family included. Nearly every year we make the four-hour drive to Sandusky, Ohio to partake of the rides, games, and food found at our favorite amusement park. Our kids have grown up on Cedar Point, beginning with the numerous kiddie rides which include, but are not limited to) the cup and saucer, the floating "tubes" the semi-trucks and the ever-popular Gemini Jr., a roller coaster designed especially for kids. The water rides (Thunder Canyon, Snake River Falls, etc.) are popular with us on mid-summer days when the temperature tops 90 degrees. We also enjoy the various shows and the IMAX theater-in-the-round. The attractions are too numerous to name, but with so many, it's not hard to find something for everyone.
Another great feature of Cedar Point is it's beautiful location on Lake Erie. The beach is accessible through the park and parasailing is available at the beach. If water fun is your thing, Cedar Point's beach isn't the only place you can get wet. Soak City, Cedar Point's water park has attractions for all ages. I would recommend Cedar Point to any family looking for a fun summer vacation spot. I would avoid visiting on weekends, the lines are long enough during the week. If you plan to stay more than one day I would suggest getting reservations for hotel accommodations well in advance. The hotels at Cedar Point are beautiful, but pricey. Sandusky has a lot of family oriented hotels, motels and campgrounds, but if you don't call in advance, you might not get a room. Discounts on Cedar Point tickets are available by calling for an info packet at 1-800-bestfun. It's worth the phone call!
