My daughter is turning 14 this weekend. Weve been telling her were going to grandmas for a family party. How do you top that?
On the day of her birthday, my wife and I woke her up and said Hey, lets go to Disneyland today! Spending a day at Disneyland with your parents, how do you top that?
While shes getting dressed, I went and picked up 3 of her best friends. They stood outside of her bathroom door. When she opened the door her friends yelled Surprise!! Were going to Disneyland! A day at Disneyland with your parents and your friends, how do you top that?
We arrived at the Disneyland ticket booth and, since were Southern California residents, were able to get the 2fer deal one ticket for Disneyland and one ticket for CA Adventure for one $47 price. Both parks for one price, how do you top that?
I asked the lady in the ticket booth if we can use both tickets on the same day. She said it depends on the attendance at the second park you want to get into. If the park is full they may not allow park entry today. It was early in the morning (9am on a Saturday) and she recommended going to CA Adventure first since we could probably get a FastPass for Soarin over California and the lines for Screamin were low. Great tip, how do you top that?
We entered CA Adventure, after showing our CA drivers license, we gave the girls their tickets (required to get FastPass tickets), rented a locker, and my wife and I turned to our 14 year old daughter and her friends and said C-Ya!. A day at CA Adventure with just your friends and no parents, how do you top that?
By 2 pm we re-grouped, exited CA Adventure (got our hand stamped on the way out in case we wanted to return), and we walked over to Disneyland. The ticket taker asked if we wanted to use our second ticket today? We said Yes, showed our CA drivers license, and we were in Disneyland! Both parks in one day, how do you top that?
By 8:30pm we re-grouped and went back over to CA Adventure for one last ride: The girls wanted to go on Screamin my wife and I went on Soarin. We showed our tickets and stamped hand and re-entered CA Adventure. The locker we rented at the beginning of the day was still available to hold our stuff. After my wife and I finished Soarin we got a cell phone call from 2 of the girls did not go on Screamin saying theyve not seen the 2 Screamers for about 45 minutes. By the time we walked over to Screamin all 4 were together talking and laughing. Evidently, the coaster my daughter and her friend were on stopped at the top above Mickey Mouses head about 5 stories up. They were there for 30 minutes, in a leaned-back position, until the attendants came to unlock their harnesses and get them out. While the attendant was setting up the catwalk and railing 5 stories up my daughter told him a joke: A blond was driving to Disneyland. When she read the sign Disneyland Left she turned around and went home. The attendant laughed. If youre a roller coaster enthusiast it is a dream come true to be stuck at the top of the roller coaster. How do you top that?
By midnight we were home, the friends were spending the night, and I had to get up at 6am the next morning to go to work so I went to bed. About five minutes after I laid down, my 14 year old birthday girl came in, leaned over and gave me a hug, and said Dad, thanks for a great day. You cant top that.
