Welcome to the second part of my series on DISNEYLAND!! We were in Disneyland October 7th thru the 14th, and it was the best trip I have ever taken. We had a 5 day Flex Pass and we used all of the 5 days.
In this review I will be telling you about MICKEY'S TOON TOWN. Mickey's Toon Town is located at the very back end of Disneyland. You have to walk thru Sleeping Beauty's Castle to get to it.
In Mickey's Toon Town, you will see the CHIP N' DALE'S TREEHOUSE Here your children (and the young child in you) can go up the spiral staircase up into Chip N' Dale's tree house that is built in an Acorn tree to see how the little critters live. You walk thru the house and see where they store their nuts, watch T.V. or just sit down and relax for a spell in one of their chairs.
My kid's favorite is GOOFY'S BOUNCE HOUSE Your children will get to take their shoes off and bounce away in Goofy's house. They encourage you to jump on the furniture (Instead of yell at you for it like mom does!!) jump on the walls, the fireplace, or from chair to chair. Before you go into the jump house, they will sit down with the kids and explain the rules that you should watch for other children so no one gets hurt.
CHILDREN MUST BE 52 INCHES TALL OR OVER3 YEARS OLD TO JUMP IN THE FUN HOUSE
Here is my Nephews favorite ride....the GADGET'S GO COASTER!! This ride is located next to Donald's Boat on Toon Lake, it is a high speed, splash down contraption for children of all ages (and of course, the young child in you) As you stand in line, take a look at the little gadget's that keep the coaster running. The gold fish swimming in circles that gives the coaster its power is really cute. Beware of the spitting frogs. They shoot water at you as you go by (I got shot right in the side of my face, yeah that was nice), and if they don't get you wet, the dip in Toon lake will!!! And being the sick evil person that I am, when you are in line, the frogs will shoot water at the coaster as it goes by, and if you stand in the right spot on the bridge, one of the frogs shoots too far and it will get you wet. SO horrible me, talked my kids, my Niece and Nephew into standing right there at the bridge to look in the water, and the frog got them.....I know, not nice, but it sure was funny!!!!!! (I had my picture taken with Mickey, and I will put it on my public page as soon as it is developed) CHILDREN MUST BE AT LEAST 3 YEARS OLD TO GO ALONE ON THIS RIDE
The most popular spot in Disneyland is......MICKEY'S HOUSE!!!!!! Take a tour of Mickey's house. See all of his movie props that he keeps stored at his house, and look into the magic mirror to see Mickey appear and disappear!! There is a T.V. and a couch set up playing old Mickey Mouse cartoons for you to sit and watch. Out the back door is the Barn Sound Stage where you can watch how some of the cartoons were made, then if you are lucky, you will get to go into the Movie Barn where Mickey is waiting to meet you and have your picture taken with him. (they only let about 8 kids in at a time, so they get one on one attention with Mickey, which I thought was pretty cool. No long lines, and people pushing) My son was scared of most of the characters walking around Disneyland, but as soon as he saw Mickey he ran right up to him and gave him a huge hug.
Right next door is MINNIE'S HOUSE Her house is painted pink and purple, and is oh so cute!!! As you stand in line, look around at the gardens, and the wishing well (you can hear her voice coming from the well and my kids thought she fell down inside it, so they ran over to help her out) Look at Minnie's garden and see all of her flowers and vegetables. (All around Disneyland there are vegetable gardens. I thought this was kind of weird at first, but it is so neat to see vegetables grow that you have never seen before. I come from a cold climate, so we don't see a lot of citrus trees and what not around, and Yes, I don't get out much!! lol) As you go thru Minnie's house, you can play with her computerized vanity, or bang out a tune on her pots and pans. Maybe you would like to help Minnie bake a cake for Mickey in her kitchen??? At certain times of the day Minnie can be found on her front porch taking pictures with the kids, and giving out autographs.
Next we have...DONALD'S BOAT!! Walk across the gangplank over Toon Lake and go aboard Donald's Boat, rightly named <MISS DAISY</B> Here you go aboard a double decker house boat full of adventures. You can go down the spiral staircase, then climb back to the top deck on the rope ladder and start all over again. The kids can pretend they are sailing the ship by clanging the bells and blowing the whistles. Check out the view of Mickey's Neighborhood and Downtown Toon Town.
When you are in Downtown Toon Town, take a ride on the JOLLY TROLLEY Take a seat and bump and whirl around Roger Rabbit's Fountain, and all over Mickey's Neighborhood. The Trolley has a Tooned-up chassis and different wheel sizes to make it roll, jiggle and weave. So if you have a little one, make sure they hang on tight. There is a huge gold wind-up key on top of the Trolley that turns as the Trolley runs.
Next we have....ROGER RABBIT'S CAR TOON SPIN I can only tell you what I have heard and read about this ride because it is closed for refurbishing right now. I was so disappointed. I heard it was a blast, so we will have to catch it the next time we go. You ride along with Lenny the Cab driver in Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin, in which Roger tries to save his lovely Jessica from dastardly Weasels and a fateful plunge in the dreaded "dip". On this twirling and whirling adventure, go on a wacky trip through cartoon back alleys in a quest to save Jessica and all the citizens of Toon Town. The attractions contains 16 Audio-Animatronics figures, 59 animated props and 20 special effects. This ride also has the FAST PASS You take your flex pass to the machine and put it in the slot, then a ticket will come out with a time for you to return (say from 9:30 am to 10:30 am) and when you return to the ride in that time slot, you get to go to the front of the line to get on instead of waiting for an hour like everyone else!
Now what are you to do if you are hungry while in Toon Town??? Here is what they have to offer to eat.
For the sweet tooth, there is CLARABELL'S FROZEN YOGURT This little shop offers refreshing dairy desserts and beverages.
DAISEY'S DINER
Here you have a choice of cheese or pepperoni pizza, garden salads, MouseketMeals and much more. The pizza was 6.99 each I think, and they were pretty good sized, so you weren't left still hungry.
PLUTO'S DOG HOUSE Here you can get foot long all beef hot dogs, chips and a drink for $3.99, childrens hot dogs, and MouseketMeals, that have a child's hot dog, drink and chips for about $2.99. They also offer chocolate chip cookies, and cookies in the shape of dog bones for the little ones. (Just to warn you, the foot long hot dogs are BIG!! I couldn't eat all of mine)
And for the SHOPPER in your group, there are lots of shops in Toon Town to chose from, all of them with different themes. The GAG FACTORY AND TOON TOWN FIVE AND DIME is a wacky warehouse for souvenir's, apparel, plush toys and other favorite Mickey mouse stuff.
The TOON UP TREATS Is Toon Towns version of a gas station, where you can buy all kinds of fun candy treats.
All of the shops and eateries are located in the middle of Down Town Toon town. as you walk around you will see mailboxes, and man hold covers. When you open them, you will find a treat for the kid's!!
All in all this was one of the favorite lands for the kids. They had a blast in the Goofy's Bounce House, and getting to Meet Mickey was a highlight of the day. We had to go to Mickey's house 3 times before we finally caught him "In the house" to meet him, and it was so worth the wait to see the looks on the kids faces.
****Also, if you want to know when and where the characters will be for pictures and autographs, ask the staff in the stores and they will tell you where the character will be and at what time so you can make sure that you catch them******
Thanks for taking the time to read my review, and I hope I have been helpful in letting you know what to expect in Toon Town.
