Adventureland is the home of the Famous INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF THE FORBIDDEN EYE. This attraction has the FAST PASSprogram where you take your FlexPass, put it in the Fast Pass machine and it will print out a ticket telling you when to return to Indiana Jones. You get to go thru the Fast Pass line and get to get on the ride before the other people standing in line. For the people that have the Fast Pass, this is pretty cool. For the people standing in line (that would be us) This is very frustrating...to be standing in line for an hour and have 50 people get on before you.
As you stand in line to get on the ride, it is like you are with Professor Jones party going on an adventure. You go into a "Temple" and see all of the Jewels and artifacts that Indy must have seen on his trip. As the line progresses you go into a room where they have your transportation lined up and ready for your adventure. You climb aboard a HUGE Truck that has been equipped for your daring adventure. Don't forget to put your seatbelt on...Your gonna need it. You start the ride bouncing your way in the truck, heading for the Great Chamber of Destiny. Here you will have an unfortunate encounter with the mysterious temple deity Mara. You are forced to flee and you narrowly escape a collapsing bridge...booby traps Giant snakes (not my favorite) and thousands of rats. We are sitting in the truck in the last row, and we are driving right for a log that has fallen across the road and running across the log are these GIANT rats. you keep getting closer....and closer...and closer...then as you are about to hit your head, you realize it is all make believe and you drive right thru it..but you have to giggle at the people in the front seat that ducked their heads to avoid hitting them. teehee. You are going across the rope bridge when.....you won't believe this....the engine on the truck dies...and you try to get it started, but it won't, and the bridge....its starting to break apart from the weight of the truck....and WHEW!!! the truck starts in time and you barely make if off the bridge before it plummets to the ground. As you go around the corner, you see INDY..he is hanging from a rope yelling for help...as you pull up to let him drop into the truck you look up and coming right for you....as you think it will surely get you, your truck backs up, and you duck out of the way to safety.....but where did INDY go?????
I do have to say..I was a little disappointed in this ride. I thought it was too short, and not enough excitement from all of the hype in the media it got when it first opened.
After this ride....it is time to take a nice relaxing ride in a riverboat on THE JUNGLE CRUISE to see the amazing life like animals. This is one of the original attractions from the opening day of Disneyland Park. This cruise replicates the environs of many of the world's most exotic rivers: The Irrawaddy River of Burma, Cambodia's Mekong, The Nile, The Congo River in Africa, and the rapids of Kilimanjaro. You will witness the gathering of animals on the African Veldt. The guides will tell you witty tales as you go on your journey. Our guide was funny.. She told us as we get off the boat, make sure we have all of our belongings, camara's, children...."If you don't want them then I am sure I won't).
Now for the ENCHANTED TIKI ROOM. The Enchanted Tiki Room is located at the entrance of Adventureland. This is the only place in Disneyland where the birdies sing and the flowers swoon. You start the performance as your guide wakes the Macaw hosts of the show up from their naps. Jose, Michael, Fritz and Pierre. They get all of the inhabitants of the Tiki Room going in a rousing rendition of "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies sing." As you look around the room, there are birds, flowers and Tiki's all over singing. The kids LOVED the Tiki Room, I think we saw the show a total of 3 times while we were at Disneyland. And located at the entrance is the DOVER TIKI JUICE BAR Where you can enjoy a Pineapple Whip while you wait for the show to start.
On to TARZAN'S TREE HOUSE This used to be the home of the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, but after the Disney's hit animated film Tarzan, they felt it appropriate to refurbish it into something new. You climb the stairs and see Tarzan's first home. Off to the right you hear the dangerous music and as you look in between the boughs of the trees you see Sabor, the ferocious Tiger that killed Tarzan's parents. As you walk along, you can hear Tarzan's yell, both from Tarzan the man and Tarzan the baby. Around the corner you see Jane, Tarzan's girlfriend as she sketches Tarzan swinging thru the trees. This attraction weighs 150 tons, has 450 branches and 6,000 leaves, and it is anchored by massive "roots" reaching 42 feet into the ground. And if you are lucky, the casts of Tarzan will be at the treehouse to great the guests and sign autographs. When I did my research I could not find a listing of the times.
