INTRO
I went to Dorney Park over spring break. I have to say I thought it was great. I just fell in love with the roller coasters. I have to say that the prices inside the park were a tad on the high side, but Dorney makes up for it with their low admission prices.
THE LINES....Not too bad
I saw some people that also complained about long lines. The only line that was uncomfortable to wait on was the line for the 213-foot steel force. It still was only a 30-minute wait. Talon, Dorney's new inverted rollercoaster also has a long line but it isn't too bad waiting on it because it is fun watching the rollercoaster soar over you. The rest of the rollercoasters lines were 5-10 minutes and other lines were either shorter or non- existent.
SECURITY...Don't come here to line jump
I also saw some reviews that criticized Dorney for letting line jumpers get passed to easy. Either those people did not watch closely or Dorney has changed its security measures. We saw numerous attempts from people to cut lines but all of them were stopped by security. Even people who claimed to know someone in the line were not allowed. The security personnel stand on something raised such as a block of cement or a rock and monitor ALL major lines. So basically line jumping was not something that anyone had to deal with... well except security.
Theme & Landscaping... Ok, but great in Camp Snoopy
There is actually no theme in Dorney Park. Certain sections have some things such as stores or colors uniformed. There is a laser area that is based around the rollercoaster Laser. The landscaping is very nice, big difference from your ordinary theme park which is some times a field of cement. The camp snoopy was the only real themed section of the park. As you can tell from the name it is themed as you are going on a camping trip... complete with snoopy in camping gear. For some reason the children just seem to get obsessed with this are of the park.
Accommodations... Ok, but that?s not Dorney's fault!
I stayed at the days in conference center. There are 10's of hotels to choose from that are within walking distance to Dorney. The hotel was... how should I say this... not exactly the best but when you are at Dorney, you don't mind, you spend most of your time getting some thrills.
Sanitation... Very clean park.
I don't really have much to say about the cleanliness of the park besides it was very clean. Its not one of those parks were you walk by some garbage or some other matter that?s looks ugly, than you walk by again 30 minutes later and its still there and than later on its still there. Dorney Park was very clean and has plenty of trashcans located throughout the park.
Conclusion
In conclusion I have to say my two-day trip to Dorney Park in Allentown PA from New York was well worth it. If you are going from NYC or Long Island or anywhere farther than 100 miles away that you go for more than one day, maybe 3. But if you are looking for a nice quiet town theme park, this park is for you. Oh yea and when you are almost to Dorney park take your cameras out, the valley looks beautiful when you are descending the sides of it towards your thrilling dream.
