I am completely wild about Idlewild!!!

Pros: Inexpensive, fun for WHOLE family, shady setting...out of the sun, short lines
Cons: Limited # of rides in the "Adult" area of the park
The Bottom Line: Definitely a great "family" amusement park. Inexpensive and fun this park allows every member of the family to have a blast!!

Last week I had the opportunity to take my 2-year-old son to Idlewild park in Ligonier, PA. I had heard much about their "Storybook Forest", "Mr Roger's Neighborhood", and water park and (with the Buy One/Get one coupons calling my name) I made arrangements to drive out with a friend and her children.
Initially, I was concerned that my son, being so young, would be excluded from most of the attractions and be bored & miserable...That couldn't be further from the truth. We got the chance to go to the "kiddie" portion of the park first and he was able to ride all the rides available. They had adorable little cars that ran on a huge track and miniature versions of various adult rides. Once we were in the main park, I was suprised as to how much he was able to do there as well. The loose height restrictions stated that children must be either 46" tall or accompanied by a parent. (This only excluded "hand-held" infants). The only rides with stricter rules were the bumper cars and the roller coaster.
The water park was wonderful as well...with adult pool, HUGE children's play area with pool, "Rafter's Run" and various water slides. This area, as well as the rest of the park, was not the insane crowd that one would expect in the middle of June. I was told by the woman when we purchased our tickets that, even when they have steady business, the attractions are never overly crowded as a result of the smaller than average parking area (PARKING IS FREE!!) and the park's location.
I was very happy with my day at Idlewild and plan to go back again soon as it is only a hour away from my home...I hope to see you there!!!
