| Pyr8's Full Review: Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park |
Once upon a time about 22 years ago, in the western side of Michigan, there was once small park with a couple of mary-go-rounds, a roller coaster, an arcade, some bumper cars, a farris wheel, a live petting zoo, and some consetion booths called Deer Park Funland, The Deer Died and the owner bought all the surrounding land and added a few dozen more rides, the park then became Michigans Adventure. They then added a water park, and suddenly put the other competing water park "pleasure Island" out of buisness and kept growing and buying land, another company handed them a unholy amount of cash and bought the place, it kept the same name but is now owned by a franchise known as "Cedar Point."
About two summers ago one of the rides named " chaos " crashed and almost killed a few people. So, I didn't hurry to the park for any entertainment, however, I did go back and check it out this last summer, I'll admit I had fun.
The secret to not having to wait in line is, Go to the water park first thing in the day, by about 3 it starts filling up and the other rides start to free up because of the heat.
The Consetion stands over charge for food and drinks, in my opinion, I'd advise eating before and after you go.
The Facilites are well kept and the Staff always mindful of your safty, there are alot of rides with height requirements averaging about 48". if you or your child is not able to meet these requirements then that person WILL NOT be allowed to ride. it's nothing to be taken offensivly just simply a safty precaution.
My personal Favorite ride is as most would say " Shivering Timbers," it's Unbeleavably fast and the Hills are As Amazingly steep, the first time I road I thought I'd be thrown from my seat in the 180 degree turn around. I took the oprotunity in a 1999 Mustang while driving past the park on "Riley Thompson Rd." where the stretch of road takes you along side the shivering timbers to try and rac the cars on the track, mind you the cars are going up and down hill, My speedometer read 62 MPH while I was neck and neck with the cars.
The Parking lot is massive to say the least, plan on a little walk to and form your car. if for somereason you forgot sunscreen or a bathing suit ( and yes it has to be a bathing suit for the water park, they will not let you wear unlined non-swimsuits on the water rides ) you can purchase supplemental supplies at the park (be advised however they are costly, I'd try and remember to bring everything you need)
The Local Area has a Ramada Inn and a Holiday Inn Just north of the park a couple miles, there are also a fair amount of restraunts within driving distance. I do need to state that there isn't however such facilites in walking distance of the park.
The Park also has a plentiful supply of small Children only rides for the kids to play on as well, however I, being a single Childless male have little insight on these items.
Be Mindful, if you're comming to Michigan as a tourist, The weather is not something you can predict, neither can most of our meteorologists. however generally speaking the weather is very hospitable in June - August.
If by chance a storm strikes and you are without something to do while here, I suggest going to Duck Lake Channel 5 miles west of the park on Lske Michigan and watching the lightening roll in, always a magnificent site and well worth the time.
