I visited King's Island on June 1, 2003. This was my third visit to King's Island, which has always been one of my favorite theme parks. I love roller coasters, the taller, the faster, the better!!

However, I would like to share my experience on the Son of Beast located at King's Island. I have NEVER been in so much pain on a roller coaster in my life. It was 3 minutes of pure misery. This roller coaster is an extreme safety hazard.
I am writing this review the day after I rode SOB, and I am currently experiencing a sore neck that is not relieved with OTC pain medicine. I have now researched SOB and found TWO documented cases of riders BREAKING their NECKS WHILE RIDING the roller coaster, and yet it is still operating.
The best way to describe the ride on Son of Beast is that it literally shakes you and whips you around so much that you are in pain the whole ride. My head ached for hours after the ride, and a friend that rode with me had immediate neck pain. My neck pain did not start until this morning. Both of us are in our 20s, in good health, and have NEVER been hurt by a roller coaster in the past (and we have been on plenty!)
It really is a pity...this ride seems like it would have been awesome if I had been able to enjoy it. I do not know that it would affect everyone this way, but I do wish that I had been WARNED of the dangers of this coaster.
I hope that some of you will benefit from me sharing my horrible experience on Son of Beast...if you do ride it, be ready to pay for it dearly.
My recommendation is to avoid this coaster, and enjoy the many other rides at King's Island that will not cause you bodily harm!
