Pros: Probably the best wooden coaster(s?) anywhere!
Cons: Not much else besides the best wooden coaster anywhere...
The Bottom Line: Skip it & go to Cedar Point or Six Flags Great America. MUCH better parks.

| ashaman's Full Review: Paramount's Kings Island |
I have been to King's Island a total of four times now. Once in 2001, and three times in 2003. I have visited many parks around the world, and IMO this park is pretty low on the list. The reasons are as follows:
#1 It is oversold & overcrowded. Some of the main passageways remind me of being in a busy subway station. You literally can't hardly move! Even on the primary walkways it feels very crowded & congested.
This same problem carries over into the areas of parking (Which you get to use for the paltry sum of $9/car), lines, showers for the waterpark, etc. The lot is a mess. Plan on walking a huge distance to get to the main entrance, or losing a large part of the day waiting for a trolley to circulate around to pick you up, then more people up, then finally drop you off where you can wait in three lines to get in. First the metal detectors, then the ticket booth, then finally admission. Speaking of admission, ONE re-entry line? Give me a break! Yet another chance to bake in a line...
The lines are longer than any other park I have visited. I have never seen a park where most lines are routinely over two hours to get on. Yeah, I have waited that long on new attractions or more popular rides elsewhere; but across the board on every ride is unusual.
Showers/changing rooms at Water Works are once again...overcrowded. 10 showers for the entire park? Give me a break. If you like standing cheek-to-cheek with others, this is the place for you. Who ever heard of a "Lazy River" where you have to get off after one time around ?!?!? Kind of defeats the purpose of a "Lazy River." But then, when once again your Lazy River is overcrowded, I guess you have to do something.
#2 Poor layout overall. There are a lot of "dead-ends" at this park. That is to say rather than follow a circular path around the park, you have to take a side path far out of the way, then back again because it dead-ended. This goes along with #1 to add to frustration. Walk way down a path to attraction, see 2.75 hour wait.....walk all the way back again.
#3 Pathetic shows. I often like to take a breather & cool off at parks by catching a show. Unfortunately, King's Island is severely lacking in this area.
#4 Doesn't maintain a "family friendly" policy as other parks. Obscene T-shirts are common, as are bikini tops, etc. Beer is also served, though you are not supposed to take it beyond certain points (In your bloodstream is acceptable I assume)....ridiculous.
#5 Overall lack of attractions. This park isn't that small as far as its overall size. It is small however in that it seems to have a lack of attractions & shows. 6 coasters, a couple of which are very short. Lack of attractions + Large crowd - Shows = very, very long lines (did I mention that yet?) So...what is the rest of the space you may wonder? Well, they decided to make up for it in the form of games, shops, and other money wasting booths. I mean there are a LOT of those.
So..the good. Well, as anyone who knows anything about coasters knows; The Beast rocks. A fantastic roller coaster! Son of Beast is also great, Vortex is a good looping coaster. They have a couple other pretty good attractions as well. The park is kept fairly clean, the entryway is beautiful. Unfortunately; in the end....it isn't enough.
