Pros:Can be enjoyed by the entire family from newborn on up.
Cons:Park is 75% water park, be sure to go on warn sunny days.
The Bottom Line: Sesame Place is pricey but well worth the admission, if you are into water parks and have little ones or just plain like Sesame Street Characters.
I went on vacation during the second week of July with my family and my sister-in-law and her family. All of us are from the Cleveland, Ohio area, born and raised there. After going on this vacation, we all found out that we have been spoiled when it comes to amusement parks. We have all gone to Cedar Point and Six Flags Worlds of Adventures our entire lives and Cedar Point was just named the World’s Largest Amusement Park. So when it came to going to Sesame Place we were disappointed by it’s size and the amount of admission, which was $34.95 per person ages 3 and up. In comparison Cedar Point and Six Flags admission is only $5.00 more and about five times as big.
Okay, so Sesame Place is not a “mega park” like we were used to, so what is Sesame Place? Sesame Place for those of you, who don’t know, is based on Sesame Street the television show and it’s characters. This we found to be a small but wonderful park with no shortage of character’s or photo opportunities throughout the entire park. The one thing that you should be aware of is that it’s about 75% water park 25% amusement park, so you’d better bring your swimming suit and go on a nice warm day.
They have just about every water ride that you can think of that involves an inter-tube or a water slide. And they have built the water side of the park so that kids from age 6 months and up can enjoy it, from waiting pools to water slides to huge inter-tube rides. My three-year-old daughter and my seven-month-old nephew had a great time. If you are not into the water scene then they do have many different entertaining shows where you can see all of your favorite characters, both on stage and in parades going down the center of the park. They also have a mini roller coaster and many different dry activities like playing in sand, building blocks, climbing ropes and bouncing type activity for the little ones.
We really did enjoy this park, but go early in the day, this park closes at 8 p.m. during the summer months and even earlier during other times. I would also recommend that you check some of the local fast food restaurants for discount tickets or coupons. We purchased our tickets through AAA for $5.00 off per ticket and later found $6.00 off per ticket coupons at a Burger King we stopped at. Speaking of food, be prepared to spend some bucks if you eat inside this park. I ended up paying $8.75 for a souvenir 32 ounce glass of Pepsi, at least it only cost $1.15 for refills. I look at it like this, I’ll probably never get back to Sesame Place again, so any souvenir or picture will help to to remember the great time we all had. If you like water parks and are a fan of Sesame Street then this is the park for you and your kids and well worth checking out.
