Theme Park Review: Universal Studios Florida
Overall Grade: A-
Rides:
MIB Alien Attack - A fun, imaginative ride has some cool fog effects and awesome interactive features. You are a member of MIB, and have to stop aliens from taking over NYC.
T2 3-D - Scary and thrilling 3-D show is the most effective one in Florida. Features some great fire effects.
Back 2 The Future - Simulation ride has some good effects featuring a dinosaur attacking the USA, but seems a bit low-budget most of the time, and older.
Twister - Another 3-D show in which there are flying cows, fire, and water leakings. Has great wind effects also, but not anywhere as thrilling as T-2.
ET - Cheap, low-budget, yet fun ride has some fun effects that seem like out of a 50's alien flick. You ride on a bike upto ET's home planet, where he and his family welcomes you.
Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster - Quite thrilling for a kiddie ride features excellent sound effects and sharp turns.
Earthquake - Was closed because of technical difficulties.
Jaws - Not thrilling by any means, but has impressive fire effects and a funny tour guide offering 5th rate jokes right out of an episode of Whose Line Is It Anyway. The shark is unrealistic, but fun to look at.
Kongfrontation - The city effects in this ride are quite amazing, even if you know already how the entire ride works. The ape effects are cheap, but fun.
Live Shows:
Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue - Good makeup design on the people, but nothing really too exciting. The music is loud and obnoxious, and it's much too busy. It's basically the universal studios monsters singing rock n roll songs.
Wild Wild Wild West Stunt Show - These are not stunts, but men hanging by ropes shooting water at eachother. This show does not do any justice for the western films, and looks more like Times Square than a desert.
Nick Studios Tour - Inpressive tour goes through all of Nick Studios, but the place is jam-packed with people and hard to see really anything notable.
Alfred Hitchcock's Film Tour - Has some good special effects, but basically has the people staring at small sets of his films and watching a boring 20-minute documentary on Hitchcock's films.
Lucy A Trbute - An excellent tribute to Lucille Ball has a walk-through tour that features Lucy memorabilia, and an excellent gift job.
Shops: There are 5 gift shops here, ranging from Woody Woodpecker's Gifts to Bates Motel Shop.
Food: There are a ton of different restaurant here, but the best one I believe was called "Al's" or something like that, and was the original setting for the show "Alice".
$$$: It's about $26 a child, and $35 an adult to get into US Florida.
