Pros: If you`re a fan of Superheroes, dinosaurs or getting wet you can`t go wrong.
Cons: No restaurants open before noon.
Hi, I`ve never been to a Theme Park before but this summer I took my 5 year old son to Orlando.
He loves superheroes so our first stop was Islands of Adventure - MARVEL SUPERHERO ISLAND. We got there early 930am and were able to walk right on to the 3-D AMAZING ADVENTURES OF SPIDERMAN RIDE. He loved it, though not enough to want to do it again. He was too young to ride the INCREDIBLE HULK COASTER or DOCTOR DOOMS FEARFALL but also liked STORM FORCE ACCELATRON,and actually wanted to this more than once !! Which to me was a mystery as it was just a basic swirling ride, but you can never tell what kids will enjoy.
The highlight had to be when the actual superheroes SPIDERMAN,WOLVERINE,CYCLOPS,CAPTAIN AMERICA,STORM & ROGUE came riding down the street on ATV`s. They each posed for photos and he got his picture with everyone one by me for FREE. Spiderman`s was the only one that cost money but that was because it took place in a a special booth with a computer generated background etc. Still a great memory for a kid.
I can`t really comment good or bad about the price of things as this was my first trip to an amusement park but, there was a FREE locker if you only left your stuff in it 30-50minutes.- i got back late and it cost me $9 to get my stuff. One other thing I didn`t like was that none of the food places were open til noon.
JURASIC PARK was our next favorite ride, though my son was scared of the T-REX and the water plunge. The ride does offer a photo of your experience at then end...if you enjoy capturing your childs face frozen in terror. I bought it anyway. We also did the PTERANODON FLYER which people might find lame if they had to wait too long (45 minutes) but I just wanted to see if my son was brave enough to do the ride as I sat in back and he couldn`t see me as we soared high in the air. The ride didn`t frighten him at all.
We didn`t do any of the coasters on any of the islands but he also enjoyed ONE FISH TWO FISH...ride in SEUSS LANDING, which again to pros might seem short and cheesy but my son liked being able to control whether the fish flew high or low.
We also did POPEYE`S BILGE RAT RIDE, Which was fun, very wet but over too fast especially after the 45 minute wait.
Food & water was $3 and up, we brought tons of water & snacks but still ended up buying food, drink & ice creams throughout the day which can really add up.
