| phungus's Full Review: Audubon Institute Aquarium of the Americas |
The Aquarium of the Americas is one of those places where most people who go for the first time will walk around with their mouth hanging open. If you have even the slightest interest in marine wildlife, you MUST go see what they have.
When I went, we saw the IMAX movie first. It was amazing, and was in 3D. Everything was cool except the part where the shark swims up in your face, but that's ok.
The first thing you'll see when you get to the Aquarium of the Americas is what I can best describe as a walk-in aquarium. Basically, there is the huge walkway, encased in plexi-glass, and surrounded by water. Fish and other aquatic animals of all shapes and sizes swarm around inside here. You could spend a long while just standing there watching the fish go by...and you still probably wouldn't see all of them.
Throughout the facility you will find aquarium after aquarium of exotic fish, turtles, and more. You will see some freaky things that you probably wouldn't want to swim with, I assure you.
Outside the Aquarium is one of their prized possessions - an albino alligator. How could I describe it? It's an alligator, and it is white. Just go check it out!
The Aquarium of the Americas is great family fun that also happens to be educational (but don't tell your kids that). I can't wait to go back again.
