| cdslaughter's Full Review: San Antonio Zoological Gardens & Aquarium |
Ok, maybe I am bias. But this was a real let-down! I was on vacation in San Antonio with my wife (no kids). We decided to visit the Zoo on a whim, with directions from the hotel lobby we set off. Aside from the ample road construction the park was not too hard to find. We arrived and found that the park next to the zoo hosted a camp out with over 100 people. We paid the admission and in we went. There was a nice stature of a lion at the entry and some flamingos. We walked the primate exhibits NOTHING exciting there. It failed to draw my interest. The bear and lion exhibits was a large square pit dug from solid rock, it was plain! Boring! And generally it failed to draw you in to look further. There were little to no enrichment activities for the animals. (Which mean they just sit there and look board out of their skulls!) I could do this for all the exhibits in the park, but I wont. We had visited Sea World the day prior, so any aquarium would pail in comparison, but this looked like the local pet stores fish sales area, the only thing missing was the prices written on the glass!
Now with that out of the way here ware the good things I saw. If you like birds, well this is the place! There ware Birds Birds Birds EVERYWHERE! This zoos director must be a real bird person. They were constricting a new very large African exhibit. This gives some hope.
Well that is enough for now. Go if you have free or 1 dollar ticket, anything else. PASS!
