I Know what you mean. It has gotten overly tacky and there isn't much to see compared to what you pay to get in. Thanks for reading.

When I last visited there. (Reply to this comment)
by leskataus
The last time I visited was in 1991 and was disappointed. I remember going there back in the mid-1960s and loving it. I was especially fascinated by the Japanese pearl divers, which are long gone now. I remember you paid to have one of these divers go down and get an oyster for you. You were guaranteed to get one with a pearl inside it. If you wanted to pay a bit extra, you could have it mounted as a piece of jewelry. Now, it seems the park has gotten to be quite tacky with souvenir shops that seem to be everywhere. It's also quite expensive to get into. The only thing I really liked was the observation tower. None of the animal shows really excited me because I have pretty much seen the same types of acts at other parks.

I agree, Ive been to Sea world and the zoo and the Marine life at sea world is far more expansive. Also not to sound snide, but the ride is called journey to Atlantis. However I've never been to the one in Texas, as I don't live near there so you could be right. thanks for the great review.

I would perhaps suggest going once, just to take in all the marine animals that zoos don't usually keep. But go to the one in Texas--I remember it having quite a bit more to offer than the California one. Thanks for reading

but it sounds like you got to see lots of different animals not usually kept in a typical zoo (penguins, manatees, beluga & killer whales, etc.). Too bad it's so expensive, it sounds like a neat place.
