I have read several of the other epinions concerning Shedd Aquarium, many of which mentioned the Beluga Whales. The Beluga Whales are a popular attraction at the Shedd aquarium. While reading the other articles, I noticed that no one mentioned the Shedd Aquarium's recent loss. The Shedd Aquarium lost a Beluga Whale, which I believe was born at the Aquarium. It was a sad day in Chicago.
The Shedd Aquarium was established in 1930. It is located between the Field Museum and the Planetarium, along Lake Shore Drive. The Aquarium contains several interesting exhibits, many of which are interactive. They have a dolphin show, the Beluga Whales, which come close to visitors. There is a Penguin display, with a variety of penguins with distinguishable by their different markings. There is an exhibit called the Seahorse Symphony that contains a variety of seahorses, pipefish, trumpetfish and sea dragons. The Caribbean Coral Reef has a variety of sea life. There are underwater cameras that may be operated by visitors. This enables visitors to view the animals close-up on a monitor.
Overall, the Shedd Aquarium is an interesting exhibit that offers fun for the whole family. The Aquarium is open from 9 am until 6 pm. The weekday hours during the Winter are shortened, closing at 5 pm instead. Admission for adults is $11. Admission is $9 for children 3 to 11 and seniors 65 and older. Children two and under are free.
Parking is available at Soldier Field, and runs $7. The Aquarium is located next to the Field Museum and the Planetarium. Both attractions are within walking distance of the Aquarium, if you plan to make a day of it. There is a gift shop, food court and restaurant located at the Aquarium. I would highly recommend any of these institutions for a fun family outing.
