This year (2003) I enjoyed my first ski holiday since I was 14, 11 years ago.
We enrolled into a 3 day shi school course and was not too sure what to expect only having previously skied in my youth in Europe. Firstly I was amazed at how organised the quickly the classes were assembled and we were soon on our way up Whistler mountain en route to stage one of ski school.
Classing myself as a novice skier I was quite happy that all those little basics came back to me within a few minutes of clipping into my skis. The first day as you would expect was all about skiing basics and the instructors were fantastic with the advice, encouragement and support. Soon the whole class was flying around on the beginner slopes ready for the next step. The thing that shocked me most about the ski school was unlike you European ski schools that are 2-3 hours long these courses started at 9am and you didn't leave the slopes till 4:30pm and we also had a lunch break with the group around 12ish.
By day three I was at a very confident standard and found myself skiing down from the "Round house" on the various enjoyable green and blue runs, and then tackling some of the trickier runs towards the end of the day.
The three day ski school defiantly made my holiday an unforgettable one due to the fact that I could then enjoy the remaining 6 days exploring the wonders of Whistler mountain on my own with out having to worry about the skiing challenges ahead.
I would defiantly recommend the Whistler ski school to any beginner or intermediate skier.
