| roosthui's Full Review: Whistler-Blackcomb |
Whistler Blackcomb is an all-year-round resort, with a moderne village, and friendly australian staff. It is a double peaked mountain with 200 runs and is located roughly 2 hours north of Vancouver BC. Often Sunny and Beautiful during summer, the unpredictable winter weater has let Whistler/Blackcomb down.
Whistler in the winter gets tons of snow! but its all wet, heavy snow. No matter how much I would always prefer to have groomed slopes than skiing in what feels like mud.
Last year I visited Whistler in February and unfortanatly I got the worst possible weather all week...RAIN... All week. After being determained to ski our first day in garbage bags we lost all hope. As most people, we now know never to count on weather in Whistler. If you are looking for a place with reliable weather, try interior BC, at resorts such as Fernie or Silverstar.
Unlike me, some of my other friends have encountered the rare weeks of great whistler weather. But with the weather came the crowds. Not even the most advanced and largest lift operation could handle this crowd. They said every time the got to the lift it was 20-25 minute wait!
So if you can beat the weather, you can't beat the crowds. I would recommend no visit to Whistler. Besides experiment. Try some new resorts, I heard Kicking Horse had the best powder around. See you there!
