Whistler-Blackcomb is the Best Ski Area in North America!

Pros: Best terrain, massive, village - well EVERYTHING!!!

The Bottom Line: Whislter is breathtaking. The terrain here is the most amazing in the world and ranges from beginner to the most extreme backcountry available.

Whistler-Blackcomb is the best ski area in North America by a longshot!
First off, its location is perfect. It is only about an hour from Vancouver. Since it is close to the ocean the temperatures are mild. The elevation is pretty low for a mountain of its size despite its huge vertical.
Now, the stats....
Over 8,000 skiable acres.
Over 200 trails.
33 lifts including 3 gondolas.
Over 5,000 feet of vertical drop.
Runs as long as 7 miles.
360" average annual snowfall.
Wow!!!
Whistler is just incredible. The most impressive are the humongous bowls at the top of the mountain. I swear they must be miles wide as the powder rises up to your knees. Even with the large amount of people there is so much terrain that many bowls are empty. They have bowls for all levels, mostly intermediate through expert. Some of the expert terrain in the bowls is ridiculous. For people who like skiing in ungroomed, backcountry terrain this is for you. At the top of Whistler they have some trails that go right down the cliffs. You don't even have to follow the trail - just stay in the boundaries. The bowls at Whistler are absolutely breathtaking.
If you like an adventure, behind Blackcomb is the Blackcomb glacier. You can ski on the glacier's immense wide-open bowl with intermediate to expert terrain. Some of the terrain up here is some of the most extreme terrain I've ever seen.
Whistler also has great cruisers and a beginner area. The whole mountain is perfectly laid out.
The villages are perfect. There are tons of accomodations, restaurants,and activities all right at the mountain. You can get from the Whistler village to Blackcomb by the gondola and from Blackcomb to Whistler by the Village Run trail. The village is awesome.
