Pros: huge, hours of runs, quads galore
Cons: weekends are too crowded
The Bottom Line: Best skiing for less than $50 anywhere. You can't even do 5% of the runs in a day, and powder is everywhere.

| wideiris's Full Review: Whistler-Blackcomb |
Whistler/Blackcomb - two huge mountains that defy explanation. There are runs all over the place (and even great places you 'shouldn't' be - back country skiing). There are so many great runs, a half pipe, bowls, alpine skiing, the glacier, this place has everything. Not to mention the view: snow-capped mountains as far as the eye can see. You realize how deep into the rockies you are, how far away from everything you are, and you get that sense of freedom, that urge to play (until somebody rips by you on a cell phone making stock trades)
It's close to two hours from Vancouver, and the roads can be really awful, so staying in Whistler is a good option as opposed to driving back to wherever you're from. While hotels are expensive, it can be a good idea to stay, as Whistler has a hopping night life, amazing hotels, restaurants, and bars full of strangers looking for fun.
This is the best skiing in Canada, without question, and the debate still continues whether it's the best on the continent. I can't think of one single thing that Whistler leaves lacking. From amenities in the town, to fresh powder, to runs for every type of skier/boarder.
If you time it right, you'll find powder. Get there early (8:30 opening time), and go straight to the top of the mountain. I've always been lucky, and that's what I'm paying for. If I wanted groomed ice runs, I'd go to the local hills. Whistler-Blackcomb has always been good to me.
If you're thinking about going somewhere new to try something different, try Whistler, it's outstanding. There's even one chair that operates at night, if you've still got the energy.
