ignorance is bliss (Reply to this comment)

I read this reviewers commentary on Verbier in Switzerland, where I live, and he was so inaccurate and illinformed that I decided to look at Whistler, where I have been a dozen times.
There is a basic problem with all these reviews. That is that a person with no experience of other resorts can make wild statements which mislead innocent readers.
In the Whistler review for example, the reviewer writes
"Quality of the Snow
The snow here ranges from hard-packed to waist-deep powder. It satisfies just about everyone's needs. One does not need to worry too much about Icy patches because it snows so often that there leaves no room for ice. The truth is that out of all the stations I have been too, I have found the best snow here at Whistler/Blackcomb."
However, as the reviewer admits, he has only ever skied icy resorts on the east coast. The geographical fact is that Whistler is right on the Pacific coast. As at all such resorts the snow is wet and heavy. The term 'cement' is often used. 'Powder' exists for an hour at most after a snowfall.
As for quantity, look at the measurements on any snow reporting site. Last winter Whistler had very poor snow for all the early part of the season.
Another thing the reviewer writes:
"You won't find a more heavily invested mountain than Whistler/Blackcomb in terms of lifts. Because of this, lines are relatively short (no more than 5-10 minutes) and everyone is happy"
Duh, Whistler has a total of 33 lifts! It is very hard to find a European resort with less than 50. And Verbier has 100 lifts, Trois Vallees 200, the Dolomites in Italy 450!
As Whistler locals how 'happy'they are, now there are 50,000 people in the resort, and how long the lift lines really are!
But the proof that any idiot can write anything on this site, with no proof checking, is the following comment:
"Scenery
Even if you are not big into skiing, one must visit Whistler/Blackcomb for the spectacular views. At the top of both mountains the Rocky Mountains are truly spectacular"
OK, fair enough, the reviewer IS an American. But even so he should know the bloody Rocky Mountains are in Alberta. Whistler is hundreds of miles away and the mountains there are known as the Coastal Range.
Please, if you don't want your ski holiday to be ruined, read real reviews in newspapers and magazines where the writers are held to account, rather than the gibberish here.
