| DJ_Selec's Full Review: Mount Shasta |
I have been snowboarding at Mt. Shasta Ski Park for 7 seasons now, and I can't wait to get back each year. The lines are short, or non-existent, the trails are well-groomed and the atmosphere is a family one. All in all, even on the rainy days, I've never had a bad experience at this park. The people in the surrounding towns are just charming. And, you can't beat the view. Unlike Tahoe, which is in the Sierra-Nevada range of mountains, Mt. Shasta stands alone at over 14,000 feet. The view from everywhere surrounding is awesome. If your hotel looks towards the mountain, you can see it no matter where you stay.
The prices are more than reasonable ($23 during the week, $18 on Tuesday) for adults, and there are a few places in town to rent your equipment quite cheap. Last year, I rented a "last years model" snowboard with step-in bindings for $46, with boots, for three days. That was at the Sportsman's Den, about 15 minutes from the Ski Park.
I can't say much more else, but do check it out, its well worth the drive, and far less crowded than Tahoe. Check out the real-time cams on the website too....
