| CARNEYVA's Full Review: Breckenridge |
Breckenridge is a real ski town rather than a strip-mall at the base of a mountain, thereby giving it the character that's lacking at its neighbors in Summit County: Copper, Vail, Keystone and Arapahoe. It's a great destination resort, especially for Britons (witness the large number of English-style pubs), and the restaurants are varied and good, if somewhat crowded. The mountain itself is tough and unforgiving, with little beginner-to-intermediate terrain, and the lift system could use improvement, as crowd management is a serious issue on weekends. The free bus transportation system around the town is a godsend, as parking is at a premium. If you're going to be in Summit County for more than a weekend, Breckenridge is worth a day-trip, but a week here could seem awfully long, especially if you're not a genuine black-diamond skier, and particularly if you're bringing kids or beginners.
