| DanskisNY's Full Review: Keystone |
Keystone is the ideal area for beginning and expierenced skiers alike. Beginners will appreciate the front side of the mountain, which has numerous long, easy runs. There are several lifts which service these types of runs. This allows beginners to ski various parts of the mountain without having to take the same lifts every time. Advanced skiers will love the incredible vertical that you can ski all day long. These winding, moderately steep runs will make you feel like you are in heaven. The best part of them is that they are all over the mountain. So you can take the chair up in the morning, ski two or three runs, then take another down the front of the mountain, and go in for a coffee break having racked up close to 2500 vertical. And you still have the rest of the day left. Of course, nothing can be seemingly this great. It becomes difficult when there are crowds, and there are a lot of them. They can sometimes make it difficult to get down as quickly as you would like, but the length of the runs make it worth it. The other drawback for advanced skiers is the lack of steeps. There are some okay runs in the back, but to get really good runs, you have to hike up into the Outback Bowls. This can be fun, but it is a long hike.
The facilities on the mountain are great. There are several fantastic restaurants for night or daytime dining. The multiple-part gondola provides speedy transport over the whole mountain. This is definitely a place worth visiting, but it can be very expensive.
