| willwasser's Full Review: Loveland |
After Reading over some of the poor reviews I feel that something needed to be added. Loveland is not a place you can judge with one visit. Some days can be cold, windy and miserable. However, I have had some of my best days in Colorado at Loveland. Loveland is like Back country with lift access and avi control. If you want a controlled environment with perfectly groomed trails and a mud rap waiting for you at the bottom, this is not the place for you. If youre the more adventurous type and like wide open spaces in a true alpine setting, you will love Loveland. Despite other comments, there is tons of Expert terrain, just don't expect to be led there by the hand. On a calm day, the ridge can offer more untracked terrain than almost any other ski area in Colorado. Unfortunately, it is not always open due to visibility and unstable snow after heavy storms. Few and far between slow lifts mean fewer skiers on the mountain. Large Powder stashes can be found a week after the last snow fall - that is as long as the wind doesn't ruin it. Bottom line: It is a variable environment with bad days and exceptionally great days. My favorite in CO.
