Last February my wife and 7 friends went to Steamboat, Colorado for a ski vacation. It was the greatest vacation I have ever had. We flew into Denver and rented a van for the 2 1/2 hour ride to Steamboat. I recommend that you not fly into Denver, especially if you are coming from the east coast as we were. The 3 1/2 hour flight was enough for me. Once you get to Steamboat you definitely feel as though you are in another world. The town is charming, the skiing is amazing, the lifts are not over crowded and the transportation to and from the slopes was sufficient. We didn't do a ski in / ski out but we were on the mountain about a quarter mile from the lifts. A shuttle runs every 15 minutes. The best night was our last when we went on a sleigh ride dinner. It was great!!! The food was tasty and the stars were blazing. I highly recommend a trip to Steamboat. It's not just for families. It may not be the college hangout or where the rich and famous go to look good in ski bibbs, but if you like to ski and have a moderate night life this is the place. GREAT SKIING!!!!!!!!
