Steamboat is a family resort. I have skied there many times with small children and the lift operators are very accomodating. They slow the chair lift down for the kids to get on and they don't fuss about it.
Other resorts I have visited do not want to be bothered with children.
The ski school for children is great. The kids have fun, they learn to ski on their own slope and chair lift. by the second or third day, the kids are taken up on the mountain and follow their instructor down the hills like little ducks following their mom.
The ski runs are are well groomed and the powder is the best I have seen. It is like ski in the clouds. There are ski runs for every level of expertise. I have found that I can go all the way to the top where there is hardly anyone else skiing. It is like having my own ski slope.
For those who like to ski the bumps, there are plenty of areas to practice.
There are a lot of very good restaurants with good food and service. Steamboat is my favorite place to ski.
