Blackjack. Mmmmm this is a fun place. Since I was a kid my family has always gone on ski trips. Nowadays we all meet up out in Vail. Growing up we'd drive up from Madison WI to the U.P. of Michigan. Big Powderhorn and Blackjack, these hills are very close to each other. If you are planning on skiing for a few days I would recommend skiing both. My brothers and I always tended to have a little more fun at Blackjack. There are trails through the woods that offer the skier a few "woop de doos". While both Blackjack and Powderhorn are family orientated, Blackjack is a bigger hit with the 20's - 30's crowd. You won't see as many kids running around as you will at Powderhorn. Blackjack is less well known so it usually has shorter lift lines. Snow is rarely a problem in the U.P. The same cannot be said about cold! It can get downright nasty on a bad day. Be prepared! Powderhorn and Blackjack are your best bet for skiing in the Midwest. Hit them both!
