The question most people ask me is "Where should I go, Seven Springs or Hidden Valley?" Both ski resorts offer great skiing, but I happen to like Seven Springs better because it offers more of a challenge rather than Hidden Valley. Now don't get me wrong Hidden Valley is a great ski resort and offers wonderful skiing, but it is directed more towards beginner skiers with easier slopes.
Hidden Valley is perfect for the family with small children just getting used to skiing and for a group of kids just going to ski for fun and not really for "hardcore skiing". Hidden Valley's lodge is great with picnic tables for people who pack there lunches or who wish to buy here food from the little food court. Like most ski resorts the prices are high so I would encourage packing a lunch.
Seven Springs is Pennsylvania skiing at it's finest. With many different trails to choose from, beginner to expert skiers would be happy with Seven Springs. The snowmaking there is top-notch and world-class. Just like Hidden Valley there lodge is wonderful but the lockers tend to cost an arm and a leg. The lift tickets tend to cost a good bit of money, but I would tell you to go on a Sunday night when no one is there and the lift tickets are cheap. Like Hidden Valley, the food tends to cost a lot and I would insist for you to pack a lunch. As I said above I prefer Seven Springs because of it's more challenging slopes like Goosebumps and the North Face side of the mountain.
What about Blue Knob?
Blue Knob is wonderful for people who love to freeze and ski in ice and stones! The snowmaking there is awful, so if you want to ski you need real snow. Some good things about Blue Knob is the cheap tickets and no waiting in lines because no one goes there. A must hit there is Stemboggan and Extrovert, but if you want real skiing try Hidden Valley or Seven Springs. Blue Knob is not good for beginners because there are bad conditions.
In conclusion, your best bet for real Pennsylvania skiing is seven Springs with Hidden Valley coming in Second and Blue Knob far behind in third out of these three resorts.
