Pros: Lots to do and see and eat!
Cons: cheesy and way to close to Dollywood
The Bottom Line: Decent mountain but again - way too many folks to have a really good time. Very touristy. It's the Panama City Beach of the mountains.

| fudge23's Full Review: Ober Gatlinburg |
We decided to go to somewhere "close" to ski so Gatlinburg seemed the closest as we were driving from Georgia. Too bad that when we decided to drive, it was winter and all of the roads through the mountain were blocked. We spent 9 hours getting to Gatlinburg when it was only supposed to take 3 (so said the ads).
We booked a room at the Fabulous Western Chalet and arrived at 10PM only to find that our room had been given away. I was not amused. We did manage to find other accomidations but only after another hour of searching.
The mountain was pretty and the snow was good but there were way too many people to enjoy it fully. The wait times for the lifts were about 30 - 45 minutes. The wait times for ski rentals was about 30 minutes. The wait times for the sky rail was about 45 minutes. To sum it up.... we waited for everything which put us in a bad mood.
The highlight of the trip was the Ripley's aquarium which was very beautiful but expensive.
Would we go again....no. It wasn't a bad trip just far too many people. Who knew that Gatlinburg had so many Elvis impersonator clubs? That pretty much sums it up.
Not recommended for serious ski bums. A good place for folks that have kids, very family oriented.
