I used to live in Townsend, which is about 45 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Due to circumstances with an "X" I returned home. I returned to TN to get married and spend our honeymoon there. Boy did I ever miss the beauty! If you have never been there IT IS A MUST and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves natural beauty! The fall is a busy time (trust me, I was a waitress when I lived there), but it is absolutely a trip worth taking! I plan to make an annual trip!
Due to my fear of heights, we were unable to due Ober Gatlinburg, but from the looks of it, it would be something that I eventually would like to try.
I have done the helicopter ride in Pigeon Forge which was really FASCINATING!!
Another site to see would be Cades Cove. I have gone through there plenty of times and spotted over 300 dear, not to mention all the other wildlife you can see!
We didn't much care for the Terror on the Freeway, but if you take your children, they would probably enjoy it.
The stores are a little pricey in Gatlinburg, but don't miss out on all of the Outlets in Pigeon Forge!!!
