I am currently living on the Killington Access Road so I have a unique perspective here at Killington. I am living in a condo resort and I get to see all the "flatlanders" come and go each weekend, leaving behind their money and beer cans. Killington is a great place to go ski if you want to have a variety of different types of runs. There is everything from the double black diamond to the placid greens for beginners.
My favorite park of Killington as a snowboarder is the Beach Terrain Park located above the Snowshed lodge. There are huge kickers placed around the park and at different times there can be as many as 4 rails to slide. The only problem with the park is that everyone and their brother who is snowboarding for the first time wants to try it out. So you get a bunch of kids wiping out on the jumps and you either have to pass to the next one or splatter some newbies face all over your board.
The bad side of Killington is that it draws the large crowds. That is why I do recommend that you hit Pico (Killington's little red-headed step-child) right down the road on Saturdays. Pico is not as big as Killington, but the crowds are much smaller and the terrain is just as good. Let the crowds die out on Saturday and then hit Killington on Sunday and you will get a much better respect for the mountain for you will actually get to ski the mountain without using downed skiers as slalom poles.
Overall Killington is good if you got some extra dough to spend. But I think you can find just as good time at Pico for a little less stress on the wallet too.
