I just recently came back from New York City and got the chance to see
Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I have seen the cartoon movie that Disney had made, and thought it would be pretty hard to outdo it. I was wrong!
The actors brought the movie to life. The characters took on such wonderful personalities, that you began to believe that they were really clocks, teapots, candles, etc.. that could talk. Belle was just wonderful, that you found yourself wanting to help her get out of her small town and get out on an adventure or two. Gaston, the handsome guy who wants Belle's hand in marriage, was like watching a cartoon character with the shining white teeth come to life. When he was on stage, I couldn't keep myself from laughing every time he showed his biceps and grinned at the audience. He was obnoxiously funny.
The beast was a grand figure of a man (animal). At first you find yourself feeling sorry for him, rather than being afraid of him. Soon you see that he has a kind heart, and you can't help but fall in love with him. At the end as only Disney can do, the beast magically transforms into a handsome prince, and Belle and the Beast get married.
My family and I happened to be lucky enough to have front row seats for this performance. At first I thought we would be too close and have to look up to the stage,I was wrong, it was almost like being up on the stage with the actors. The seats all cost the same price of $80.00, which seems to be the same for all Broadway shows. We just happen to luck out on our seats. There is a ticket center in the middle of time square, where during the day you can get tickets for half price on seats left for that nights performance.This show found me laughing one minute and crying the next. I just loved it. I recommend this for all ages. You won't be sorry!!
