I went to see the musical in London and was looking forward to it. (Its based around Bob Fosses dance style) and I'm currently studying dance. However I wasn't impressed with this musical. The story left me feeling bored. When the second act started I was thinking about how long it was going to be rather than looking forward to it.
When I leave a musical I like to leave feeling inspired but this didn't leave that feeling at all. The only song I left singing and dancing to in my head ( and out loud) was Mr Celofane. (Which was the best performed character). I liked the way only minimal movement was needed to make this catchy, believable song come across really showing the character.
The main character when I went to see it (Roxie) was played by Jennifer Ellison. She worked hard but I didn't believe her or Velmas' character although Velmas' character was an understudy. The dance routines were together though not spectacular. But at the end of the day the story wasn't exciting more predictable and I wouldn't recommend this.
