| jcare's Full Review: Radio City Christmas Spectacular |
Radio City Music Hall. talk about an American institution - this has been around longer than Frosty and Rudolph. Radio City and the Christmas Spectacular has had a reputation during the 90's as being a little rundown and dingy. This year after $70m of renovations - the glitz is back.
I have to admit that my expectations were pretty low for this show, but I really did enjoy it. A show it certainly is - throwing in everything from the Nutcracker, 60 dancing Santas, more high leg-kicks than you can ever imagine, dancing teddy bears and a fine collection of miniature elves. I just sat there for about 100 minutes, watched the show and definitely caught the Christmas spirit.
The finale features a Nativity parade/scene to the rousing accompaniment of various Christmas Carols. This is a great celebration of Christmas featuring a heavy dose of Christianity and the Bible for the last 10 minutes as "the message".
Hint #1 - if you're going to get tickets towards the back, you may as well go up a level or two to improve your view.
Hint #2 - Programs are $10. Be prepared for sticker stock on anything you buy whilst inside the hallowed Radio City Halls.
Hint #3 - if you're going in to catch the 11am matinee on a weekday , why not go in early and check out The Today Show just around the corner ??
