| gclanyc's Full Review: Les Misérables |
The story of Les miseable is incredibly moving and captivating. It is based on a young group of revolutionaries, and what they go through to fight for their cause. The characters are all so strong that is hard to figure out who is the most "miseable"
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
MEN: WAR
WOMEN: Love story
CHILDREN : spinning scenery, very colorful but may not get the impact of the story.
For being Such a sad story, they do have appropriately placed comic relief, which is a god send when you are sobbing uncontrollably in your chair (YES MEN TOO)
The music tells the story so there is very little dialogue. I recommend reading your playbill before it starts, as it outlines the premise of the story. Although it may seem cut and dry about war Heres a taste of what else is weaved through it
A man running from the law, who is actually our hero
The law chasing him (villain)
A love Triangle
An orphan/ dying mother
Oh yes and the war.
Bring your tissues..The second act will move you...
