Pros: First act
Cons: Second act
The Bottom Line: I wish I'd gone to see Naked Boys Singing instead. All the Off-Broadway goodness with loads of eye candy! Instead of a pace that starts to drag...

| lovely_zelda's Full Review: I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change |
Something goes wrong half-way through "Seinfeld set to music." The first half is clever, funny junk about dating. Then, the shifting characters get married and...well, that's where the change comes in.
Maybe I'm too young. Still, the thought that I'm dating people so I can end up hitting on people at funerals once hubby's passed away. Cheerful.
The whole tone of the second act was a miserable, "Oh god, we have kids, sex is a rare and beautiful thing, and after the kids comes death." The first half was that sarcastic, "I want a member of the opposite sex but they're frustrating to the point where I'd happily switch teams" dating thing that we all know and love from sitcoms.
As a whole, the show is largely forgettable though. I can't really remember any of the songs very well except for some chanting...oh, and there was a turntable for scene changes.
Now, let's step back for a second: depressing second act, mostly forgettable. Boy, makes you want to rush out and see it, huh?
This show was a speed bump on that particular Broadway trip. It had nothing of value: Jekyll and Hyde bored me, but months later provided hilarious posters of David Hasselhoff. Les Mis is wonderful, of course, and Aida, while no where near the same league as the truly great shows, at least provided some light hearted amusement. And wedged between "wonderful" and "light hearted amusement" was I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. If not for the Playbill and vague feelings of disatisfaction, I probably wouldn't even remember that I'd seen it...
