I had the misfortune of seeing Tony and Tina's Wedding tonight. Maybe I didn't "get it" but I found nothing entertaining about the show. For starters, their web site says the first part takes place at StLuke's church...it did not. The entire show takes place in the basement of the Edison Hotel. We sat cafeteria style, very crowded, barely able to see any of the scenes taking place in the front of the room. Of course, the characters eventually make their way all around the room, ...fighting, shmoozing with the guests, flirting... After a while the whole scene disintegrates into what looks more like a lowlife beer brawl. The Brooklyn style caricatures of the wedding party are amusing at first, but it wears thin. I did feel like I was at a wedding...one where I didn't know anybody , was bored and couldn't wait to leave. Now, comes the food part. For about 100$ a person, the food is horrible. You line up for a "buffet" which consists of a green salad, pasta, and bread. Oh yes, more bread is put on the tables for an appetizer. There are no second trips allowed for this buffet. There isn't even water on the table to drink. There is a cash bar where you can pay for a bottle of water.When it was time for the wedding cake, one plate with about 10 2inch pieces of a sliced frozen cake was plopped down on the table. No individual servings, no plates, no napkins... Very crude , not at all like an Italian wedding should be. Oh did I mention, you can dance with the bride if you come up with a dollar bill or a five, 10.... As I looked around the audience, I found some thought the show a lot of fun, and others were definitely not enjoying themselves. One group who did appear to have a good time was a wedding party out celebrating their upcoming nuptuals.By 9:30 we were out, headed back to suburbia and a stop at a good diner to eat. Save your money!
