| delcasanova's Full Review: Tony N' Tina's Wedding |
A friend of mine once saw Tony and Tinas wedding in New York and told me all about it on her return home. Which is why I was excited when it came to Las Vegas. My boyfriend bought us Tickets to the show for our anniversary one year and for all the hype my friend gave me about the NY show I was slightly disappointed with the experience I had at the Vegas showing.
We order or tickets online, my boyfriend decided to order the deluxe package that was a lot more expensive because he thought it would be nice on our anniversary and it guaranteed a good seat. It also came with Champagne which we wound up giving away since we dont drink.
The day of the show we showed up at the theatre at the advised time by the internet site. Turns that is a lot earlier then you need to be there. It only took us about fifteen minutes for them to turn your email into actual tickets and then you have about an hour to kill. We decided to go to Starbucks before getting in line in front of the theatre. There was very little to determine where the VIP tickets lined up (they instructed to line up in the VIIP line when we purchased our tickets) and where the normal tickets lined up. We asked someone in the longer line and they pointed to a line where three people were standing we stood there. Shortly after we began waiting a lady standing across from us in the normal tickets line began to yell at us. It was really pretty off putting she was telling us that we were stupid for standing in that line because there was only one line. We looked around for an employee to take care of her or at least get her to stop yelling and there was no one around. In fact it had been a long time since we had seen ANY one at all.
Finally after about a thirty minute wait with the woman still yelling. A man exited the show area and came to our line and asked if we all had VIP tickets the 4 of us showed them to him and he directed us inside ( in spite of the screaming woman). Once inside they take your picture with the best man from the wedding and again on your own and then take you inside where you are seated by another character. We were seated at a table off to the left. Seeing the band area was ok, but when we were looking around we noticed it was very hard to see anything else. I was pleased and surprised however when they allowed us to bring our coffee inside and continue drinking it.
Soon after being seated the various characters began to emerge and more people were seated at our table. A nun like character came over and made fun of the cleavage on my dress, she covered me with a napkin. I laughed about it with my boyfriend and the lady next to me told me I should leave it there. I wasnt sure if she was serious, but I thought it was kind of rude. This is when I began to notice a trend with the other patrons. No one seemed to be in a very good mood, I was glad when champagne began to be served and people began to loosen up.
The show it self was alright it wasnt the best thing I have ever seen (and Ive seen a lot of shows being involved with theatre myself), but it was entertaining. However we had to strain our necks to see most of what was going on. So much for VIP seating!
Then came dinner, the food was descent but there was very little variety, chicken, lasagna, bread and salad were served. We had to wait about 20 minutes before receiving food; at this point I decided that VIP was a moot point. After we ate dinner there was more neck straining to see more moderate acting, until finally it was time for us to eat cake. They placed a plate with several pieces of cake in the middle of the table. No one touched it for a little while because they had already cleared our plates and forks. My boyfriend noticed other people in the audience eating with there hands. Turns out they dont bring you any eating utensils for your cake and you have to eat with your hands.
While Im sure the show in NY must be really great the one in Las Vegas is only so so. You may enjoy yourself if you go the show is entertaining and the food is good, but defiantly do not pay for the VIP price it is not worth it at all.
