Pros: Usually available in all markets
Cons: Small selection of full size cars
The Bottom Line: The family on vacation might save a little money with Avis versus Hertz, but for the business traveler, the time and comfort are more valuable.

| jwimberley's Full Review: Avis |
I think there are good qualities to Avis but they are more geared toward the individual or family on vacation. I travel more for business and have been disappointed with the service that I have received.
My normal schedule for a business trip includes arriving at the airport about an hour before my first appointment to pick up my car. When I have used Avis there is normally a line at the counter. I tried to sign up for the Preferred Service program that they use but it is not available to those that have a direct billing agreement with their company. Because my company is invoiced monthly and pays Avis directly I can't use the Preferred program and go straight to my car.
When I do get to the front of the line there has been more than one instance of being downgraded because they have run out of full-size cars. I don't enjoy picking up clients and trying to stuff them into a mid-size sedan.
Like I said, the family on vacation might save a little money with Avis versus Hertz, but for the business traveler, the time and comfort are more valuable.
