In June 2009 we rented a car from the Avis at the airport. We were in Florida for my husband's brother's funeral. When we returned the car to the airport, the people there rushed us, we barely had time to get our suitcases out of the trunk before they grabbed the keys.  We did not realize until we were at the next airport in the trip home to Nebraksa that I was missing my wallet. We had left it on the dash of the car because of the toll roads, so I called as soon as I missed it ( 2hours later). I was told that the car had already gone out again and there was was nothing they could do! I asked didn't they have a lost and found there?, I could identify the wallet.  The woman that I spoke to said that Avis hired another company to clean the cars that come in and that " not everyone is as honest as you and I".  There was approximately $300 in the wallet and this was most of the money we had to get home to Nebraska.
         I kept in contact with Avis for about another week, still trying to find out anything!  They did not offer any compensation of any kind or really any apology. It seemed to me that they weren't even going to try to find my wallet or the money.
        This whole experience left us with a VERY poor opinion of Avis, the reason we chose them was the ad from the past saying Avis tries harder, well they certainly DID NOT.  I would rent a car from anyone else than them!!
