We rented from Enterprise for a 2-week California trip. After a lot of research we chose Enterprise because it had the best combination of reviews and price. Other companies were cheaper but had a lot of complaints. Other companies had fewer complaints but cost quite a bit more. Enterprise seemed like it had the sweet spot. Note that every single car rental company we checked had a lot of bad reviews online, and Enterprise was no exception. But it fell in the group with a smaller percentage of bad reviews, and it was cheaper than the other companies in that group for our rental, by a couple hundred dollars.
We picked up at Las Vegas airport, returned at San Francisco airport. We chose a compact car for gas mileage, and were given a Toyota Yaris. (Could have upgraded to mid-size for very little more but wanted good mileage.)
The outcome was great. The car was ready and in good shape, aside from some dog hairs in the back seat (not a lot, but noticeable). The clerk was very pleasant, asked us about optional products (CDW, GPS, gas plan) but didn't pressure us at all. The paperwork was done quickly and we got out of there fast.
The only problem we had on the road was that a maintenance light came on. At first we thought it indicated a problem, but we looked online and found that it was a 5000-mile oil change indicator and how to turn it off.
The car return was fast and easy -- a quick visual inspection by their guy (also very friendly) and we were done. We returned the car about 10 hours earlier than scheduled, and there was no fee for early return. (We had heard that some companies charge if you return more than 4 hours early.)
It's been 6 weeks since the trip and there haven't been any surprise charges on our credit card so it's all good.
Overall a good experience and I'd rent from them again.
