I had the misfortune of having to have a rental car when my own vehicle had to go into the shop for repairs from a wreck. I had rented cars in the past from other companies for various reasons and was NOT looking forward to this experience. THe other person's insurance company was paying for the rental however I played close attention to the rates in case I ever had need to rent a car myself.
My experience was a very nice experience. The customer service is by far excellent. I dropped my vehicle at the shop and they came and picked me up to rent the car at no charge even to the insurance company. They also took me to my vehicle when I dropped off the rental car at no charge.
I was able to get a standard four door late model sedan. I chose from two and was told if I didn't care for it I could swap it for the other kind of car if I wanted to within 24 hours. I did not exercise that option. I noticed however that much more exotic vehicles were available at extra costs, such as pickup trucks, an international trooper, etc...
The cost of this was 24.95 a day with unlimited mileage. There were rates with limited mileage at lesser rates. I felt this reasonable.
The only place that I felt somewhat intimidated was in discussing the insurance coverage. Having only a 500 deductible collision on my
insurance I felt the pressure to "buy" their extra insurance which was quite high. I did not however succomb. This did make me feel somewhat uncomfortable as they pre-inspected the rental and felt they would come after me if one little scratch.
I drove the car for two weeks with only one minor problem of a service light coming on, but I called them and they assured me it was okay. They had already assured me if I did break down they would rescue me.
The car itself was clean and comfortable although as many later model cars too many gadgets. But they had the manual in the glove compartment thank goodness.
I returned the car, and they did a "cursory" inspection, not what I expected. I decided that perhaps I had been too hasty in my worries about the insurance...I guess they feel it necessary to impress that on people.
All in all my experience was excellent and I would rent from them again.
