I have only used Enterprise car rental once and that was enough for me. I was not at all happy with the pick me up service. I had to catch a shuttle from the airport, not an awful thing in itself, but I had expected to have some help with my baggage. This apparently is not part of the pick up service as I had to load my own bags onto the shuttle.
The area where the baggage is stored was rather high and my main bag was rather heavy. I managed to get it into the storage bin and sat next to it for the ride to the Enterprise office several blocks away from the airport.
When I arrived at the office, there was not any record of my resversation. I had made this reservation over the phone only two days prior to my arrival. I had given them my credit card number and all the pertinent information so I could sign for the car and be on my way.
It took almost an hour and a half for this company to get me a vechile to drive. I had asked for an economy car when I made the reservation and was quoted $69.00 for the week-end, Thursday night thru Sunday morning. An
economy car was not available, so they put me into a mid-size car for only and additional $10.00. Okay that was not a big deal, however I have been given the upgrades from other companies for no extra charge when what I requested was not available.
Then of course I was offered the damage waiver insurance. This is only $9.95 per day extra. I declined this additional expense and it seemed the customer service went right out the window.
I was given the keys to the car I had rented and told it was a white Buick in the parking lot. I had three bags and my purse to carry to this parking lot and when I got it out there, I found three white Buicks sitting there. One of them was being cleaned by the attendant, and yes of course this one was my rental car. It was hot, the wind was blowing and I had to wait another 35 minutes for the car cleaning to be completed.
When I was finally told I could put things into this car I started loading my bags into the trunk. The heavy bag was difficult for me and I lifted it onto the edge of the trunk and slid it inside, and the trunk latch ripped a six inch tear in my luggage. However I did not notice this at the time, so I drove the car for the week-end before I could bring this problem to the attention of the office manager.
I was told I should have asked for assistence with the heavy bag from the lot person. And they are not liable for damage to personal belongings.
My experiece with other rental car companies has always been a lot better than this company offered me. I recall Advantage Rental Car bringing the car to me, and helping me with luggage both on arrival and departing their office in the shuttle. They had the car parked right outside the door and help was speedy and efficient.
I will strive to see that I do not have to give any more of my rental car business to Enterprise in the future. There are too many options out there to receive this poor service.
