Pros: If you want to use your points for you or your spouse - no issues.
Cons: Deviate outside of their set requirements and there is no wiggle room to help others.
The Bottom Line: Decent rental agency, if expensive. But when it comes to flexibility about using awards to help others they leave you out in the cold.

| nlm234's Full Review: Hertz |
One of my close friends has a son with aggressive bone cancer. Last year they did aggressive chemo and removed part of the bone in his leg. Needless to say he was very sick most of the year but had great hopes of recovery.
Unfortunately the cancer returned this year, more aggressive than before - moving into his spine. Standard treatments have failed and all that is left is experimental treatments which insurance will not cover. As a result, my friend is struggling with bills as well as the question of whether his son will live or die.
Its not much, but I want to help him by using my reward points to pay for his car while at the cancer treatment center so he has at least one less bill to handle. Unfortunately Hertz refuses to let me do this. I have spent an hour + on the phone with different departments and been told no.
This is very disappointing - especially given that all it took was 15 minutes on the phone with Marriott and I had a hotel for my friend ON the medical campus. I would hope that Hertz could do the same.
I'm not asking for charity, I'm not asking for a hand out. I'm only asking that Hertz let me use MY point to help a minimize the stress against a father trying to make ends meet and raise 2 boys - one of which is dying before his eyes.
