Ripped-off in Detroit by Thrifty (Shifty) Car Rental

Pros: The car was clean and the shuttle service driver was friendly.
Cons: An unscrupulous company that allow agents to scam customers with hidden fees.

Do not rent from Thrifty, they are indeed scam artists. I believe the only way to get their attention is to affect their bottom line by boycotting them. I told the agent at the Detroit Metro Airport that I did not need additional coverage since I had my own insurance and she said "OK, initial here and here". I did not have my reading glasses and made the mistake of assuming that she was honest, which was not the case. I signed for an $152.00 of coverage. I contacted customer service which is a total waste of time. The service is outsourced to other countries they do not have the authority to do anything helpful for the customer other than totally waste your time. I have seen several similar complaints about Thrifty from other customers which leads me to believe that this corruption reaches into the upper level of management. I have filed a complaint with the Michigan Insurance Commissioner and Michigan State Attorney General. I have also disputed the claim with Master Card. Please help support this boycott of another "Enron type mentality" company.
