MGM is one of the four Disney parks in Kissimmee, Florida, right outside Orlando. You will know that this is MGM when you see the tall, brown and old, Hollywood Tower Hotel also known as the Tower of Terror, the main attraction at MGM.
Parking & Admission
Parking is $7. After you park your car, the tram will take you to the entrance of MGM. You can also drop off or pick up guests for free.
Admission for me was $30 after buying my tickets on sale in 2000, and then negotiating a bit. These tickets never expired, so I used them in December of 2002. They were also Park-Hopper tickets. This allows you to go to as many Disney parks as you want in one day, but you must use that particular ticket.
The Studios
MGM Studios is one of the major Disney studios for Disney movies. To see the studios, take the Backlot Tour or go to the Magic Of Disney Animation Tour.
The Backlot Tour starts off with a standing area. In this area, you get to watch how the producers make certain scenes look real. This happens when someone is selected from the audience as an actor, and is put in a situation that looks real life. Instead, they show you how they make the situation look real life with special machines. The next part is when a canopied bus takes you behind the scenes and shows you things that were used in movies. This includes the truck in Mighty Joe Young, the airplane seats from the movie Delta, and other objects that were used in Disney movies.
The Magic Of Disney Animation Tour is a walking tour taking place inside. Here, you get to see how people make cartoons. The tour guide will draw a few pictures of Mickey Mouse and will flip them very quickly to make it look as if Mickey is making a motion.
Rides & Attractions
Tower Of Terror - The Twilight Zone is the best attraction in the park - perhaps the world. Here is my complete review if you are interested!

Rock n Roller Coaster is another excellent ride at MGM Studios. Here is the complete review if you would like more information on it. http://www.epinions.com/content_70975196804
Star Tours is one of those future type of rides. You get to travel to the moon of Endor when captain Rex takes you. Aboard the Endor Express, the new captain tries to take you to the moon, but instead takes the wrong course and is being attacked by lasers. Instead of taking you to the moon, you are taken back to where it all started and Rex said that hell get it right next time. The ride is inside a big box of seats that move to the screen to make you feel as if you are really moving.
Muppet Vision 3D is one of the funniest attractions. It is a show inside a big theater. So grab your 3D glasses and join me! When the screen comes on, thats when you know the show is beginning. Ms. Piggy has her little performance as the other muppets get ready for the big show. Let me just warn you that at the end, Ms. Piggy may just end up as the pitiful Statue of Liberty...youll see.
The Great Movie Ride is yet another one of those I cant believe this attractions. You get to go back into an older Hollywood scene. You get to go through scenes of different Disney movies such as Wizard of Oz, Indiana Jones, Tarzan, Casablanca, Fantasia and Singing in the rain. There is also a gangster scene where the driver of your car is pushed off by a gang member and the gang member takes you on the tour. This makes it so there is a little story to the whole attraction.
New York City
Towards the back of the park near the Backlot Tour is a section that makes you feel you are right in downtown Manhattan. The buildings (really a thin piece of steel making it feel as if they are real buildings) are rendered on painted flats. The buildings are 3D but are really hollow within. You can sit on the New York style apartment porches while taking pictures with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Donald. There are also old fashioned cars that were used in New York City back in the 40s. Dont forget about the shop windows which display what an everyday New York City shop window would display. However, these arent real shops and add to the creativeness of the park in making you feel like you really are in New York City.
Food
We ate at Pizza Planet Arcade that comes from the movie Toy Story. There, we had personal pizzas, soda, and a salad. The prices were pretty harsh considering that it was $10 for the combo which included a personal pizza with any type of topping, any type of large soda, and a Julienne salad with Ranch dressing. We also bought a pretzel and a pretzel stand for $5.
Staff & Maintenance
Staff was always friendly, polite, helpful, and always smiled. The park also seemed very clean and tidy. The staff members did a good job with this as you could see them sweeping and picking up after littering customers.
Overall Thoughts
MGM Studios is one very nice park that older kids would enjoy. Though there arent that many rides, there are two studio tours and the New York City showcase is very neat and unique - maybe even interesting if you want to put it that way. The price that I purchased my tickets for was very good, but usually cost around $50 if you walk up to the park entrance and buy them there. I like that the park was clean and the staff was professional, but I was not too crazy about the price for my meal and my pretzel.
