| roynyr's Full Review: Walt Disney World Epcot - Germany |
You will have loads of fun as I did when I visited the Germany area at Walt Disney World Epcot. The epicenter of this particular exhibit is their imitation German Octoberfest Hall which has a German band that plays all the traditional tunes from Germany as well as the food of the country. It's a nice little exhibit for children and parents alike to partake in as you take a break from walking around Epcot during the day.
Prices at dining facility are somewhat expensive but you have to remember the Disney factor which accounts for some of the high cost. We paid about twenty-five dollars for a buffet style dinner and a pint of fine German beer which was absolutely delicious. A small note here, this is one of the places on the entire Disney property where the consumption of alcohol is not prohibited so it is certainly a fine place to take advantage of.
Also, there are some small shops nearby in the Germany part to buy some trinkets. We did not buy anything that day but I enjoyed browsing the facility to see the different genuine German items that were available to the Disney consumer to buy. Some of the items were actually shipped in from Germany.
Yummy
There was certainly a great variety of food in the restaurant in the Germany section at Epcot. I love good food and there was a plenty that day for all. Some of the authentic German delights that were available included the German pretzel bread. They put a delicious type of salt on it which was quite magnificent and I enjoyed it tremendously. They also had weinerschnitzel. If you have never had it, you must have it at least once in your life. It is a personal favorite of mine. It is a breaded veal cutlet and it is very good! A pint of beer and a weinerschnitzel equal culinary nirvana for me.
The bratwurst was also really good. It is almost like a hot dog but it is a form of German sausage more appropriately I would say. Put some mustard on your bratwurst for a great treat. There was also some fried chicken served but I did not find that particularly enjoyable, quite frankly. It was somewhat dry in my opinion. However, make sure you get the great German potato salad to enjoy with your meal at the buffet table. Wow, is it good. I really enjoy potato salad and this one was well-made and very good. I could taste the fresh potatoes throughout the meal. Make sure you get the apple strudel for dessert - another great treat.
Music Too!
The entertainment in the pavilion was pretty good as well. They played the traditional German tunes, there was an accordion player, a tuba player - the whole nine yards of German music. People liked it so much that a lot of them went on the stage and started dancing as well. To be honest, I do not know if it was the quality of the music or the strong German alcoholic beer kicking in but a good time was had by all the German hall with in Epcot that day.
